2008

Hi everyone. We are already well into the new year - the Chinese year of the Rat, and it's time to revive our web 2.0 library blog.
A Rat Year is a time of hard work, activity, and renewal. It is a good year to begin a new job, get married, launch a product or make a fresh start. Ventures begun now may not yield fast returns, but opportunities will come for people who are well prepared and resourceful. The best way for you to succeed is to be patient, let things develop slowly, and make the most of every opening you can find.
This rat year sentiment is well suited to our move into web 2.0. However we say it... little steps, slow and steady, whatever! ... fact is, we need to continue with upskilling ourselves and the community with these emerging technologies. It is only by experiencing the tools, that the opportunities for new and adventurous services can be recognised and explored. Whilst working your way through the exercises, keep in mind ways in which we could use these tools in the library. Start some discussion on your ideas either in the blog or at staff gatherings. Be imaginative, creative, innovative. Let's hear your thoughts, it just might be the key which opens the door to our brave new library world. Last of all, remember to PLAY! PLAY! PLAY! It really is the best way to learn.
